Debt Recovery & Financial Claims

Review unpaid debts and financial claims in Jordan through evidence organisation, correspondence and a considered assessment of settlement or legal action.

The amount is only the starting point

When payment is late, the immediate question is how to recover it. A useful assessment also asks where the obligation comes from, when it became due, what records support it and whether the other party disputes liability, amount or timing. Those distinctions can change the appropriate next step.

We review a claim as a connected file rather than an isolated balance. Contracts, invoices, delivery records, account statements and correspondence may each contribute different evidence. Missing information is identified before a route is selected, so that the proposed work is based on an organised understanding of the claim.

Reconcile the documents and the balance

The review starts by comparing the amount claimed with previous payments, adjustments and objections. The chronology matters: when was the work delivered, was it accepted, was an extension discussed, and do later messages affect the understanding of the obligation?

For a business with several unpaid accounts, an agreed referral process can specify the information required, the status of each matter and the next action. This helps the finance team distinguish disputed sums from incomplete files and payments that are not yet due.

Settlement and proceedings

A structured demand or negotiated settlement may be appropriate for some matters. Others may require court or enforcement action, depending on the documents and circumstances. We consider the alternatives and explain their requirements, costs and uncertainties without promising full recovery or a fixed timetable.

Any settlement needs clear terms about instalments, dates, payment records and the effect of default. It should also make clear whether it resolves the underlying claim or regulates how it will be paid. An unclear repayment arrangement can postpone a disagreement rather than resolve it.

Preparing your claim

Keep original records and correspondence in their available formats. Prepare a balance showing the amount sought, payments received and the supporting document for each item. Include unfavourable correspondence as well: knowing the other party’s objections early supports a more realistic assessment.

Disclose previous proceedings, notices, settlements and relevant dates at the first contact. After reviewing the material, the firm and client can agree the scope, reporting arrangements, fees and anticipated expenses. Recovery remains dependent on the debtor’s circumstances and the applicable process.
